With Christmas now only a couple of days away I’m wrapping things up for 2009 and taking the next couple of weeks off so I can enjoy spending some time with friends and family for the holidays. I won’t be putting my camera gear away though because this Christmas will be Emmy’s first and I plan on documenting every moment like the photo-crazed dad that I am.

Speaking of firsts 2009 was a year full of them for me. I started my photography business this summer which brought along with it my first clients for whom I shot my first family portraits, my first engagement photos, and my first wedding. All done using my first pro quality DSLR with my first pro lenses, and then printed the images on my first wide format printer. I’ve met some great people for the first time and had a great time attending my first photography workshop.

Of course the first that means the most to me has nothing to do with my business or even photography. It’s the birth of my first child. This experience, for me, has been the mother of all firsts. My first time seeing a baby being born. My first time changing a diaper…coincidentally also my first time getting peed on (that I will admit to). My first time laying on the floor in a room full of semi-strangers pretending to be a pregnant woman (no comment). And of course…my first time being called “Dad”. The list just goes on and on.

So as this year of firsts comes to a close I want to thank everyone who helped make 2009 a fantastic year for me. On top of being the best dad that I can be I have some ambitious goals for 2010. Not quite world domination but something close to it. If you’re reading this I hope that 2009 was an amazing year for you and I hope that we cross paths in the New Year…better yet I would love nothing more than to photograph you, or your engagement, or your family, or your kids, or your wedding. So why don’t you get in touch. At the very least we can get together for coffee and talk about your plans for world domination.
