Baby Room

With less than two months to go until we up-size our family unit we decided that now is as good a time as any to complete the necessary transformation in our home by converting what used to be a second office room into a baby room. Here are some of the design details as well as some images of the completed room.

We started by removing a large desk and wall shelves to gain some additional space and then laying down a couple of coats of Hawthorne Yellow paint which we knew would not only brighten the room up but also provide a beautiful contrast to the antique black finish of the crib and dresser we had chosen. A large black area rug complements the furniture while providing an additional layer of comfort for your feet over top of the cork floor. Finally a tall and narrow black shelving unit and two floating wall shelves round out the functional accent pieces in the room.

The crib set that we ended up choosing (which includes the quilt, a dust ruffle, crib sheet, and window valence)  is called Sundae and it also provided the main source of inspiration for the design theme for the room. We were able to get a few matching items from the same set such as the table lamp, crib mobile, along with some very cool removable wall decals. The decals really pull everything together and carry the theme of the crib set throughout the room.

Once our baby has a name we plan on spelling it out on the wall over top of the crib using wooden wall-mount letters and of course, being a photographer, I’ve hung a couple of empty 16″ x 20″ frames on the walls which will eventually contain prints of our newborn. To say that I’m excited would be an understatement and now seeing how this room has come together really has created a whole new level of excitement for me. Let me know what you think!

Of course it looks awesome! You have an eye for design. The photos enable others to experience it as if they’d walked inside the room themselves! Good work! Glad you are excited! I’m sure baby T will love it for quite a few years!
